What drew you to AvA for your Mother of the Bride look?
"I purchased a stunning dress from AvA for our son's California Wine Country Welcome Dinner. I have a very difficult time finding dresses that work for my body type, so I was thrilled when my online search revealed AvA. I was so taken by the unique, sophisticated and beautiful options. I ultimately chose the stunning and sheer, Sophie Sheer Dress, a floral 3/4 length scoop neck dress with sleeves layered over a matching dress. Not only was it perfect for the occasion and complemented the floral decor, but I felt beautiful and received many compliments. I have since purchased a number of AvA dresses for other events and am thrilled to have found a designer that knows how to create elegant silhouettes that are both sophisticated and stylish."
What was your favorite part about the look and how it carried you through the day?
"The dinner was held outdoors on a remarkably hot day. When guests arrived, it was 100 degrees. The sheer fabric, even with long sleeves, couldn’t have been more perfect. It kept me comfortable during the cocktail hour and warm enough during the evening hours. The movement in the bottom flounce of the dress added a playful touch to a sophisticated silhouette. It was the perfect dress to set the tone for the wonderful weekend of wedding festivities."

"My shopping experience was five star! I connected with Gloria via email and phone, and she gave me exceptional personal attention. I was under a time crunch, so she helped me expedite the order and determine correct sizing. She has continued to offer her expertise regarding all things AvA whenever I need assistance."

What drew you to AvA for your Mother of the Bride look?
"It started with one of my twin daughters helping me search for a dress for my son’s wedding on a time-crunch. My future daughter-in-law had the sweet idea that the immediate family be dressed in different tones and shades of blue for their beach wedding on Marco Island, Florida (it was perfect). I was on the hunt to find something that simultaneously be special enough and allow me to feel both elegant and confident for the entirety of the ceremony and festivities.
As soon as we saw the stunning Tahlia Dress, we knew it was perfect. No matter how many dresses my daughters and I sent each other to deliberate over, nothing could top the Tahlia. It was decided: I had to try it on. My heart was set on it. Gloria helped us set up a time to come and visit, greeting us with joy, excitement, and understanding of my situation. The Tahlia was, unsurprisingly, even more lovely in person. And when I finally tried it on two weeks later, my daughter immediately exclaimed how she had never seen me look so happy and radiant in a dress in years and was texting her sister pics. I felt beautiful instantly."
What was your favorite part about the look and how it carried you through the day?
"It might be impossible to select just one favorite detail. The patterns, all designed by Ala as I came to learn, embodied the ocean, as did the flow of the fabric with each movement. I have always embraced color, and always want to wear something that no one else has. I knew I really didn’t want a stereotypical “Mother of the Groom/Bride” dress; the Tahlia dress was the perfect answer: unique and beautiful, where I knew I would not outshine anyone.
It is easy to see how Ala creates each garment with overwhelming care to acknowledge how women are shaped, especially those of us who are older and may have areas on our bodies of insecurity. The Tahlia worked to effortlessly disguise those “problem” areas, through draping,
I found the belt–rightfully beautiful on its own– to be a great feature to create some extra shape in my midsection and also provided a few ways to change up the look in the future if I chose to tie it differently, or omit it entirely. It was elegant, modest, and flattering. And, it was lightweight and comfortable–perfect for a Florida wedding! Not needing to worry about how I looked allowed me to focus all of my energy and attention on my son, daughter-in-law, and family, as we celebrated."

"My shopping experience with AvA truly made me feel special. Gloria so graciously accommodated my daughter and I as we drove in to the New York showroom, suggesting looks, silhouettes, and color palettes that were each so special and beautiful, while also explaining the intentionality and versatility of each design and pattern.
The day was about the couple, and l know my kids wanted me to take the effort to feel good about myself for this important milestone in our family while not having to worry all day about the dress, and being comfortable. While every piece from AvA is absolutely a work of art and carries a truly beautiful message and appreciation for women in all stages of life, it is the dedicated team that makes this brand stand out. It was a gift to share this shopping experience with my daughter, and have it and this dress become part of the wedding memories."

"When I stumbled upon the dress that I would ultimately wear to my son's wedding, I knew instantly that it was the perfect choice. I had once seen the beautiful Ala von Auersperg garments in Florida and then again online. It wasn't until I saw the Sophie Sheer Dress that I truly fell in love. But, to my disappointment the dress was sold out in the pattern, color and size I needed.
Calling the company, I was fortunate to talk to Gloria. She checked and there was THE fabric and said they could make it for me. Gloria was a life saver!
