Beach days are almost upon us. That’s why we’re prepping with a few sheer beach cover ups that will not only keep us covered, cool, and fabulous by the water but can be reimagined later that day for an evening out. We’re looking to our Foxgloves, Purple Poppies, and Blue Pansies prints to help us turn heads this summer season. I have been down south for work and play for months and I am excited to be heading north. Summer in New England does not feel so far away. It’s green up north and getting warmer. Spring time is my favorite time of year!I am excited to be trying out my new prints and have sorted through the pieces I cannot wait to wear.
Ala's Summer Choices
The Foxglove print is one of my favorites of all time. I had an entire hillside full of them in Newport and could not resist painting them. I love the way they grow from the hem of the dress. I am looking forward to wearing the Loren Wrap Dress and tying it in several ways. Each way you tie it makes it look like a different dress. I know that I will wear the Titania Kaftan in Foxgloves at home and going to friends for dinner. It’s so flattering to wear it belted or without the belt for just a comfortable night at home.
The Asher Dress in Blue Pansies is just a great fresh dress. I wear it over the Caterina Mini Dress to go to a restaurant or over a Caterina Long Dress for a more formal look. I love the way you can wear it by relaxing the ruching in the front for an easier look or pulling the strings at the top to accentuate the ruching for a flattering formal look. It’s kinda of fun to play with the ruching to see what works best. There is no wrong way to do it!
I cannot wait to get to the Red Ranunculus print. The vibrant print and bright colors just give me a lift each time I see them. The refit Diane Mesh Top over the Elaine Pants and Caterina Tank are just a great easy look for any evening out. Separate the pieces and wear them anytime. The Diane looks great over our white Gabriele Pants or over just white jeans. I love the pants with a white shirt or sweater on a chilly night. The tank looks great under a blaser, always a favorite look of mine.
Finally my piece de resistance is the Lucille Cotton Tunic over the Paloma Cotton Pants. I made the pieces to be worn together but like most of my pieces they are versatile and can easily be worn over white pants or under a white shirt as alternatives.
These are just a few ideas of how I would wear things. I love that my friends and customers always find different ways to wear my clothes. Please send me a photograph of what you would do with them! I am always so curious and thrilled to see the ideas people come up with!
