AvA New England Collection Statement
This season, AvA conjured the spirit of New England as a vision for its Fall 2022 New England Collection, complete with AvA classics as well as new styles that fuse effortless femininity with a structured, menswear-inspired approach. At a time when women are getting dressed, heading back into the office and traveling abroad, these tailored styles will see the AvA woman from the city, to the country, to every adventure in-between.
“I think what comes through in this collection is the power of femininity with a slightly masculine sensibility - that juxtaposition,” says Ala. “We’re back in the office, but we don’t want to feel as formal as we used to be. The barriers have shifted slightly. So there’s a return to traditional dressing, but it’s not necessarily buttoned up.”
New styles in the New England Collection include layering staples that transition between seasons, yet can be worn all year. The Winona vest is a reversible piece that’s quilted on one side in silk in Fall’s Narragansett print with a Spanish bardot lining, in sapphire. Trimmed in luxe taupe microsuede, it’s the perfect piece to pair over the new Mariah silk camisole, Kimi shawl-neck cotton voile blouse, or even a knit for added warmth. It goes with everything from a blue jean to new AvA wide leg pant styles in a comfortable four way stretch.
In an extension of AvA’s outerwear offerings, the Tallulah blazer is an oversized, menswear-inspired silhouette with asymmetrical hemlines. “I love opening up the jacket to see the silk printed lining on the inside,” says Ala. “It’s playing on that old twin set idea. You can wear a matching blouse or tank underneath. It’s very elegant.”
In terms of prints, the geometric Dancing Birds makes its return in sapphire blue, while Narragansett showcases the beauty of duck feathers in the wild in hues of turquoise, sapphire and slate over a layer of smoky taupe and white. The palette of the New England Collection is decidedly Fall but without the warm tonal hues typical of the season.
“It’s Fall but not ‘traditional Fall,’” says Ala. “I see our woman wearing these pieces to friends’ homes for dinner, in the city, the country, and even Europe. You can wear it anywhere, any time of year.
